This event is FREE and open to the public. For those who’d like to support GRCF and future land protection efforts, a suggested donation of $25 at the door will also include a complimentary drink ticket.  Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

The Graphite Range Community Forest will be Saratoga County’s first community forest, and be a recreational hub for mountain biking, running, hiking, environmental education, cross-country skiing and more! Located just off Route 9 in the Town of Wilton, the GRCF spans over 200 acres featuring 5 miles of professionally designed trails that guide visitors through the diverse woodland preserve, showcasing the historic graphite mines and foundations, rock ledges, cascading streams, and habitat for local wildlife. At the time, GRCF is still currently closed to the public. Ethan Winter, the current owner of the land which will soon serve as the Graphite Range Community Forest, says that “this [community forest] is going to create an opportunity for people of all walks and abilities to appreciate nature, get to know our forest, and hopefully learn to take care of it. My vision is that there’s an energetic community presence in terms of taking care of the trails and utilizing the trails and that the users understand that these are shared trails and a shared resource.”

Rob Davies, Executive Director of Saratoga PLAN says that the project “is critical to preserving open space within such a rapidly developing region.” This event will serve to give thanks to all of the supporters who have helped create the GRCF and bring together the community surrounding the forest.
