Disney’s ‘Descendants: The Musical’ Kicks Off Fall Season Next Friday

SARATOGA SPRINGS – This perennially precocious not-for-profit organization has much to be proud of. The upcoming 2022-23 season for Saratoga Children’s Theatre (SCT) will represent a quantum leap forward in its presentation capabilities.
You see, after years and years; and years and years (I may have left out a few years and years) of scrambling and struggling to secure space for their year-round productions, classes, workshops, and summer camps, SCT has its own home – at 615 Maple Avenue specifically. It’s a home with the space and facility that can grow and continue to do the good work they have done for many. Their own main stage; rehearsal rooms with real dance floors; costume, wardrobe and dressing room facilities – all brand-spankin’ new!

And yes, there is much still needed – stadium seating and a couple of new projectors are part of their wish list. We’ll get to some of the ways you can help with that in a moment. But considering where they were, and yet the impact they have made on young lives to date, a little victory lap for SCT is not out of line.
About that impact: Lest you think that theater arts is some sort of dalliance, consider this video, which has example after example of what can happen when you make this kind of investment in our next gen’s future:

So, if you are inclined to make a straight donation, this PAGE has a number of options for you. You also can contact SCT directly (info@saratogachildrenstheatre.org or (518) 886-8800) if you want to fund a particular wish list item or two. But, it must be noted, one of the easiest, and most enjoyable ways to support SCT is to attend shows! In that connection, let’s explore their next offering, which, conveniently is next weekend:

Disney’s Descendants: The Musical
October 21st at 7pm
October 22nd at 11am and 4pm
October 23rd at 1pm
Based on the popular Disney Channel Original Movies, Disney’s Descendants: The Musical is a brand-new musical jam-packed with comedy, adventure, Disney characters, and hit songs from the films!

Imprisoned on the Isle of the Lost – home of the most infamous villains who ever lived – the teenaged children of Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Jafar, and Cruella De Ville have never ventured off the island… until now. When the four troublemakers are sent to attend prep school alongside the children of beloved Disney heroes, they have a difficult choice to make: should they follow in their parents’ wicked footsteps or learn to be good?
Tickets can be purchased HERE. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door for each performance.
$18 for Adults
$12 for Students and Seniors
$5 for Children Under 10 Years Old
Children Under 5 are Free!

A final perspective: As one who has been pleased to cover this mighty-mite organization since it was Founded by Meg Kelly, and stewarded by Leigh Berenis, I am proud to see all this growth, and am excited by the plans that SCT’s current leadership “Descendants” have in store for us. Here’s their WEBSITE to follow their journey.
I bet that, in short order, you’ll be shouting “Bravo!” too.
