Three Great Organizations Combine to Assure a Happy Holiday for Kids

SARATOGA SPRINGS – Three organizations combined forces on December 16 to assure that families and children had a joyous Holiday. On that day, the staff, volunteers and friends of the Saratoga-based Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF) gathered for a Holiday Happy Hour & Toy Drive at the Principessa Elena Society.

“Our happy “herd” of 25-30 friends brought more than 120 wrapped gifts , including 50 donated by our friends at Lazy Dog Cookie Co in Ballston Spa.!” Kimberly Weir of TRF imparted, with her usual enthusiasm.
.
The gifts were delivered to the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, where families supported by the New York Racetrack Chaplaincy were invited to come “choose a toy” for every child. Gifts were available on Saturday and Sunday during museum hours/ Museum staff greeted each family and helped them find explore the gifts – sorted by age. Fifteen families came over the course of the weekend.
The remaining gifts were distributed to Chaplaincy families in the area, and even a surplus was given to the Salvation Army just in time for their toy distribution before Christmas.
