“While we were not able to provide a marketplace for the many local authors to set up tables to sell their books and services to attendees,” notes cjPurdy, Programming Manager for the Festival, “we will host an open mic for poets and prose writers to share their works at this year’s festival.  Hopefully we can put this pandemic behind us and we can expand the festival next year to include a marketplace.”

Authors will appear at several venues in downtown Saratoga Springs. The Saratoga Springs Public Library will serve as “SBF Central” with adult programming upstairs and children/YA events downstairs. Caffe Lena will host the poets and prose authors, Saratoga Arts will also host author events, and the keynote address by Russell Banks will take place at the Saratoga City Center. Attendees are encouraged to check the SBF website for programming details closer to Festival dates.

“We are committed to presenting a literary event that celebrates big ideas, civic engagement, and the power of books to inform, challenge, inspire, and delight,” noted Ellen Beal, Founder and President of the SBF.  “We are thankful for the strong support from the community, be it advice, ideas, donations of space, or financial support.  And I just wish to thank everyone who helped us this far in making this book festival possible, including city officials, the folks at Northshire Books, and especially the generous donors and corporate sponsors.  A special thanks goes out to the authors who have agreed to participate, but also to my all-volunteer Board at SBF who truly threw their shoulders to the wheel to organize what is shaping up to be a fantastic festival of authors for readers throughout the region.”

The Festival has a robust website, rife with information on how to register to attend, volunteer, donate, and partner with the organizers for SBF 2021.  The site can be found at https://saratogabookfestival.org/
