ROCKTOGA Adds More Excitement!

CBS6 Anchor Liz Bishop to Emcee; Raffle Items, Food Trucks and Stock Car Displays Added To August 1 Benefit at Malta Drive In

MALTA – In addition to a multi-genre music lineup at ROCKTOGA, a family-friendly event which will benefit the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at the Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center, ROCKTOGA announces the following enhancements to its event, which takes place from noon – 6 pm on Sunday, August 1 at the Malta Drive In:

CBS6 News Anchor Liz Bishop – a fixure in the Capital Region for decades, will serve as MC for a portion of the day’s festivities. Ms. Bishop has also been the host for an annual ”Melodies of Christmas” broadcast, which had a COVID-related hiatus last Holiday season, and has the Melodies Center as the same beneficiary as ROCKTOGA.

Food Trucks Confirmed: Throughout the afternoon. attendees can enjoy food and beverage from a variety of food trucks, including Dolan’s Dogs & More, Nosh Charcoal Pitt, Michelle Arno’s Lemonade, sandwiches and tater tots from Say Cheez 518, and Gyros from Sage Bistro.

Raffle Items: Attendees can win a variety of generously donated items, highlighted by a piece of jewelry – valued at $2000, courtesy of Robert Fine Jewelry of Guilderland; and a rocker’s dream electric guitar – valued at $500, courtesy of Parkway Music of Clifton Park.

– Speedway Stock Cars: Malta Drive In’s neighbor: Albany-Saratoga Spreedway, will be cruising in with several Stock cars to display, and thir drivers will be available for autographs and lively ’car-versation.’ The Speedway is also donating family admission packs for the raffles.

A ”Bounce House” and other family activities will be available.

But you can’t spell ROCKTOGA without ’rock,’ and expect that to be delivered big-time by the day’s music headliner – Grand Central Station. Also featured on the day’s music lineup are Big Sky, Jocamo and Superposition to please everyone’s musical tastes.

ROCKTOGA Organizer Jay Graham described the philosophy behind bringing this new event to the Malta Drive In: ”From her grandmas driveway, I could tell there was something very special about my young neighbor, Charlie Hernandez. Her glowing beam of life while she patted my dog Lucy, and her overall kindness always moved me. Later, I learned Charlie was living with an incurable cancer. I believe children motivate us to see the needs of the world. In Charlie’s memory, please join us to find a way to a world where no child lives with cancer.”
