These Folks Are Serious About Their Fun!

On the Cover: On the fly – when a live auction is happening, you don’t want to linger long in front. So this photo of (still) newlyweds Aimee and Gary Dake and their table was taken whilst scooting from stage right to left. I guess I can still stop and pop!

Live auctioneer extraordinaire Mike Munter was hilarious as usual. On the Dave Matthews @ SPAC package (complete with Saratoga Eagle Beverages): “I promise this will be a night you won’t ever remember!”

SARATOGA SPRINGS – Well, the business of Fun is back in business!

On a picture postcard evening (Thursday, June 10, 2021,) Prime at Saratoga National seemed to bloom like spring flowers as a robust gathering – overflowing the large tent onto the upper lawn expanse – attended Child’s Play 11, benefitting the Dake Foundation For Children. This is always a supremely fun event, always with several accent points that certainly make it distinctive.

This is no surprise, since it comes from the Not-for-Profit whose mission statement reads: “The Dake Foundation for Children was founded to provide children with disabilities the tools they need to become as independent as possible while maximizing FUN” Source: https://www.dakefoundation.org/about/

From fun cuisine (Mazzone knows pizza and meatballs!) to a rock ‘n’ rolling live auction that had people rolling in the aisles while painlessly digging deep, to a post-dinner nightclub-style revue that featured a comedian (Kelly MacFarland) AND a magician (Matt Roberts – both performers brought in from the Boston area), attendees were kept amused till the end.

Overall, these Child’s Play events are standouts every year because of what it is not. I’m privileged to attend many events here in Saratoga, and while they all benefit very worthy causes, some, it must be said, are a little stuffy.

Not here. It must be said that the Dake Foundation for Children, and everyone associated with putting this event together have mastered the art of “de-stuffication”.

(I know it’s not a word, but it says it best. Try to think of a better one!)

Whilst thinking, enjoy the gallery – taking pictures of all these happy people isn’t work – it’s Child’s Play!
