SARATOGA SPRINGS- It may have been an unconventional, but the 2020 Date Night Gala benefiting the Saratoga Springs History Museum was a huge success – raising nearly $10,000!
“When we knew we would be unable to host an in-person gala, we were stymied and stuck. Then we met with Fred McNeary Jr. and John Rowe from Prestwick Chase at Saratoga and they said: ‘we have an idea’.” James Parillo, Museum Director stated.
Their idea and generosity paid off. Fred and John sourced lobsters from Gloucester, Massachusetts and the Chef’s at Prestwick worked their magic preparing meals what were delivered by museum board members to museum supporters. During dinner Thom Powers played a solo set from the museum that could be seen on FB live.
The History Museum which is located in the Canfield Casino, was forced to cancel three fundraising events due to the pandemic. Funds raised help the museum to provide educational programming, create exhibitions and care for collections.
Parillo also said “We owe a debt of gratitude to Prestwick Chase, all of our sponsors, and those who purchased meals and supported our auction. This truly set us on the right foot to start a new year”.
The Saratoga Springs History Museum is closed for the season and will re-open in the spring. To learn more about the museum or to make a contribution, visit www.saratogahistory.org.
