Saratoga Senior Center, Skidmore Athletes Combine
SARATOGA SPRINGS – On Saturday, November 2nd, Skidmore Student Athletes tackled The Third Annual “Raking for a Cause” in association with the Saratoga Senior Center.
With the donation of 30 rakes from The Skidmore Community Service Department and Allerdice Hardware, and Skidmore Students were able to complete 20 yards for seniors in the Saratoga Springs Community. In addition, the City of Saratoga Springs provided curbside leaf pick up as well.
The project began two years ago when the Saratoga Senior Center saw a need for seniors to have their yard work cared for. This program is part of The Center’s “Community Connections” ; which is a volunteer-driven program that matches seniors in need with volunteers from the community to help them get to the doctor, grocery store, friendly visits household chores and much more. The goal of ‘Community Connections’ is to help seniors age in place and maintain an independent lifestyle.
This “Community Connection” is one of many traditions that all parties look forward to continuing for years to come!
