Wellspring to host Annual Pooch Parade for Domestic Violence Awareness

SARATOGA SPRINGS – On Saturday, September 28, Wellspring will host the Ninth Annual Pooch Parade to raise awareness about domestic violence and support their Safe Pet Partnership Program. The event will take place in Congress Park, and will begin with registration and activities at 10 am. Pooches are a suggested $5 donation and people are free.

The Pooch Parade is a fun day for families and their pooch filled with ‘pawdicures’ (nail clippings), an agility course, pet vendors, free giveaways, a raffle and more followed by a walk around Congress Park. Wellspring collaborates with the Adirondack Veterinary Clinic to help make this event possible and this year Benson’s will be our presenting sponsor.

Many times victims of domestic violence will not leave an abusive relationship out of fear for what might happen to their pet. Wellspring’s Safe Pet Partnership Program helps with assisting victims of domestic violence by providing safe, temporary placement of family pets through a network of volunteer foster families.

These families provide pets with a loving home while our clients move to safety. Once that is achieved, our clients and their pets are reunited. Wellspring’s Pooch Parade is an annual event that helps raise awareness and funds for our Safe Pet Partnership program.
