A Future ‘Thing’: Dizzy’s Fiesta!

Alta Havana Scheduled For Several Summer Dates

SARATOGA SPRINGS – So you’re in this situation: You have a hot date you want to impress and/or you will be welcoming out-of-towners that are looking to you, Mr. or Ms. Local, to show them the cool places to be. Not the one’s everyone knows about. I’m about to make you a hero.

Take them to see Alta Havana at Dizzy Chicken Wood Fired BBQ (102 Congress Street.) Not only will the food and drink wow them, but I highly doubt that they’ll be able to keep their hands from clapping, their feet from tapping, and several other body parts from swaying to the richness and exuberance of traditional Cuban music and its many variations that Alta Havana brings to the party.

Alta Havana’s collaboration of unique styles yields a fresh, exciting take on Cuban music. The group is comprised of highly acclaimed musicians who have performed independently and with other ensembles on major festival stages around the world, as well as large rooms here in town, such as The Hall of Springs and Saratoga Automobile Museum. But this is up-close-and-personal stuff, which gives the feel of a neighborhood come alive.

If you missed the last party, no worries – because throughout the summer, Alta Havana will appear at Dizzy for several dates (all 6 -9 pm)

Friday, June 14

Saturday, June 29

July: Every Friday – July 5, 12, 19 and 26

August: Friday August 2; Saturday, August 10; Friday’s August 16, 23 and 30.

It’s easy to see this becoming a ‘thing’: a new residency sprung organically and already so comfortable, that it feels like it has been happening for years. In fact, the tout in me declares that Alta Havana at Dizzy Chicken Wood Fired BBQ is already a ‘must put on your dance card’ several times this summer. Experience them next Friday and you’ll see what I mean.
